The coconut plucker

The coconut plucker's feet are bound by a piece of rag. His legs are a unit for climbing.

The motorbike's handlebar is bound with a piece of shiny orange cloth. It moves forward blessed.

The betel leaf merchant's wooden circular carrier is bound with thin bits of material. Like a crisscrossed wheel it functions beautifully.

If I were a real artist I'd buy all the betel carrying wheels, "true folk craft," in the market and build them as an installation.

If I were superstitious enough I'd find all the shiny orange cloth in town and festoon my possessions with it.

If I composed theater pieces I would write of the dance performance made by the coconut plucker.

  1. The man who takes coconuts down is usually referred to as a "plucker" rather than a cutter. Nice piece, BTW
